Autism Empowerment Statement on Supporting Autistic and Neurodivergent Communities
February 18th, 2025

At Autism Empowerment, our mission has always been to promote acceptance, enrichment, inspiration, and empowerment for autistic and neurodivergent youth, adults, and families.
As a neurodivergent-led organization founded in June 2011, we believe that every individual possesses unique gifts and strengths to share, and we are dedicated to cultivating a world where all people are valued, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
In light of recent developments, we recognize the growing concerns within our community regarding the direction of disability, education, and health-related policies within the United States government. Autism Empowerment stands firmly with autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families. We assert that our community members are not burdens but valuable contributors to society whose well-being matters deeply.
We understand that health and societal challenges are real, and we believe that true progress stems from providing compassionate support, equitable access to resources, and opportunities for everyone to reach their full potential. Any initiative aimed at addressing health outcomes must do so with inclusion, respect, and dignity at its core. This means authentically including autistic and neurodivergent voices throughout all facets of evaluation, decision-making, and funding.
We recognize that autism is on a spectrum and all autistic people are worthy of having their needs met. Autism Empowerment remains committed to advocating for the rights, health, and well-being of all autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families. Through our programs, including Spectrum Life Magazine, we will continue to provide resources, support, and a platform for voices within our community to be heard. We encourage our community to stay informed, support one another, and join us in promoting acceptance and understanding.
Together, we will continue to strive for a future where all individuals, regardless of ability, are celebrated for who they are and supported in living their best lives.
With love, hope, grace, and empowerment,
